About Deep Blue Communications & R.E.V.
Deep Blue Communications (DBC) is a leader within the wireless networking industry. We specialize in hotel WiFi, retail WiFi, and outdoor WiFi deployments with a heavy focus on the end-user and customer. We sell, install, and maintain wireless networks for customers ranging from a single hotspot to over 1,000 access points supporting upwards of 10,000 users.
The largest of Deep Blue Communications deployments comes in the form of retail (R), enterprise (E), and venue (V) implementations. The REV team is responsible for the launch, management, implementation, and quality control/oversight of these large or complex projects. The REV division of DBC has a tremendous opportunity for new growth and expansion in the very near future, and is looking to expand its resources to support that initiative.
Project Engineer – REV is a network engineering and project management role that will transcend multiple departments and project phases. Project engineer reports to the Director of Operations – REV. As a Project Engineer – REV, you will be responsible for participating in all phases of network deployments, from conception to completion.
Hours of operation are standard 8:30a-5p EST hours, however different projects and implementations may require shifting this schedule or working additional hours. It is expected that this role will work between 45-50 hours per week on average. Working from home is a standard practice for certain tasks and can be discussed on a per project basis.
Some travel will be required of this position (up to 2 weeks per month, typically 1 week or less per month). It is expected that you will be home each weekend.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Please Note: The Roles and Responsibilities Outlined Below are approximations of the role that will be filled. This role specifically is a nimble and flexible role, where many “hats” will be worn. It is expected that through excellent communication and understanding of projects, appropriate levels of involvement will be held by the team member.
Sales Engineering & Design Assistance – Coordinate with internal engineering resources, customer technical contacts, and management personnel to assist with the creation of design documentation and installation directional documentation.
Deployment Project Management – Work on deployments as directed by Network Engineering and management to perform tasks that fall within the standards of DBC REV division.
Maintenance and Support Engineering – Provide ongoing management and oversight to REV deployments, working with customer and internal personnel to ensure ongoing success of REV implementations. Perform support tasks as necessary.
Junior Network Engineer Tasks as assigned – Part of the development of this role is to strive to perform the role of the higher level network engineers. This will lead to training opportunities and task requirements assigned by senior level network engineers that must be performed by the project engineer.
Experience & Education Requirements
We are seeking candidates for this position with the following credentials
- 2-4 Year Degree in a Computer Science Field
- 5+ years’ experience within a network implementation and support environment
- 1+ years’ experience working in network design, sales engineering, or deployment management for network installations.
- 1+ years’ experience working within a wireless networking environment with managed deployments
- Experience working with networking deployments and wireless networking for events, venues, and conventions.
- 2 professional references within the industry (to be provided after initial interview)
- 1 customer reference within the industry (to be provided after initial interview)
